Hem & Hue is our answer. A debut Indian streetwear brand built entirely around craft traditions that deserve a far bigger stage — Kantha embroidery, reactive dye treatments, hand block print, ikat fabric, and artisan hand embroidery — placed inside heavyweight silhouettes built for the street.

At Hem & Hue, craft is not a detail. It is the foundation every piece is built on.

We work with artisans who specialize in techniques that are generations deep — Kantha running stitch, hand block printing, reactive dyeing, ikat weaving, hand embroidery. Their skill doesn’t end up as trim or finishing. It ends up as the reason the piece exists.

We believe these traditions don’t belong behind glass. They belong on your back, in your city, worn every day.

WHAT DO WE DO?

We make streetwear from India’s most extraordinary craft traditions. Our silhouettes are oversized, wide-leg, paneled, and built for the street. Our techniques are Kantha, ikat, block print, reactive dye, and hand embroidery. Our fabric is 240 GSM French terry, cotton twill, woven cotton, and glazed cotton.

We don’t add craft on top of streetwear. We build streetwear from craft — from the inside out.

To revive India’s endangered craft traditions by placing them at the heart of contemporary streetwear — ensuring skills passed down through generations reach further, earn more, and live longer than any traditional context alone could allow.

Debut Collection Launch

Twenty styles. Hand embroidery. Kantha appliqué. Reactive wash treatments. Ikat fabric. Block print. Our first full declaration of what Hem & Hue is.

Artisan Collaboration

Working directly with craft specialists — Kantha artisans, block printers, ikat weavers, and dye practitioners — to bring endangered techniques into contemporary streetwear silhouettes.

Craft Revival Initiative

Committing a portion of every collection to techniques at risk of disappearing — ensuring their survival through the most powerful channel available: fashion people actually wear.

DIVE INTO THE CRAFTS

KANTHA

One of India’s oldest embroidery traditions. A running stitch originally used to layer and strengthen fabric — practiced for centuries, passed from hand to hand. At Hem & Hue, it lives on French terry.

REACTIVE DYE & WASH TREATMENT

An organic process where colour and texture are formed by chemical reaction on fabric. Cannot be precisely controlled. Cannot be exactly repeated. Every piece is the only version of itself.

HAND BLOCK PRINT

Pattern applied with hand-carved wooden blocks — one press at a time. No rollers. No digital print. Just block, ink, and the pressure of a human hand.

IKAT

Patterns formed in the thread before the fabric is woven. The characteristic soft-edged, blurred motif cannot be replicated by print. It is woven into existence.

HAND EMBROIDERY

Worked by artisans who specialize in the techniques they use. Hours of thread and needle. Visible in every stitch. Felt in the weight of the finished piece.

APPLIQUÉ

Fabric cut into shapes and stitched onto a base — building surface and dimension through layering rather than printing. Every placement slightly different. Every piece unique.
